Despite the talent that abounds in the country, Ethiopia has no circus tradition; very few acrobats ever see the inside of a circus ring.

Brothers Bibi and Bichu learned their skills busking in the streets of Jimma. As teenagers, having discovered their extraordinary talent for juggling, they journeyed to England for its thriving circus scene, and met with more success than they ever dared hope for.

Bibi and Bichu have always supported other circus dreamers. For years they’ve sponsored Circus Wingate, a circus school in the nation’s capital, where they discovered the incredible acrobats of the Konjowoch Troupe, who started out like they did, honing their skills with no expectation of pay on city streets.

Now, having performed all over the world, in shows from children’s television to award-winning opera, the brothers have teamed up with the gravity-defying Konjowoch Troupe to pave the way for a phenomenal new Ethiopian tradition.
